  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and stir until combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for 12 to 18 hours at room temperature.
  3. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place your Dutch oven inside to heat up.
  4. Dust a work surface with flour and turn the dough out onto it. Shape it into a round loaf and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Carefully remove the Dutch oven from the oven, and place the dough inside. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until the bread is golden and crusty.

Notes

  • For a softer crust, you can cover the bread with a towel after baking.
