  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Evenly pour the batter into the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the cakes cool, make the ganache by heating the chocolate chips in a microwave or over a double boiler until melted and smooth.
  9. Spread the ganache over the top of one cake layer, then place the second layer on top and spread the remaining ganache over the top and sides of the cake.
  10. Slice and serve for a truly indulgent treat!
