  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  11. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  12. Once the cakes are cool, layer them with strawberries and whipped cream.
  13. Top with remaining strawberries and serve.

Notes

  • For a sweeter cake, increase granulated sugar to 1 1/4 cups.
  • Use different fruits for a twist on flavors.
