  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll the dough into balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Let cool before serving.
