  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the wet ingredients.
  5. Melt the semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolate together, then fold into the batter.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let the cake cool completely before assembling with mousse layers.
