Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

A delicious and easy recipe for butter chicken made in a slow cooker, perfect for family meals.

  • 2 pounds boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 14 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, ginger, and garlic. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Place chopped onions at the bottom of the slow cooker, then add the chicken along with the marinade.
  4. Pour crushed tomatoes over the top and stir gently.
  5. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender.
  6. Once cooked, stir in heavy cream and let it heat through before serving.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
