Quick & Easy Gouda Mac & Cheese

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded gouda cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and chop into pieces.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter and whisk in the flour to create a roux.
  4. Gradually add in the milk, stirring consistently until the mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in the shredded gouda cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni and turkey bacon to the cheese sauce, mixing well.
  7. Pour the mac and cheese mixture into a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
