  • 2 pie crusts
  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust and place one in a pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and dot with butter.
  5. Cover with the second pie crust. Seal the edges and cut slits in the top crust.
  6. Brush with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
