Kuzhi Paniyaram

Kuzhi Paniyaram is a traditional South Indian snack made with fermented rice and dal batter, giving it a unique texture and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup urad dal
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak rice and urad dal for 4-6 hours.
  2. Grind them into a smooth batter and let it ferment overnight.
  3. Once fermented, mix in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped green chilies, onion, coriander leaves, and salt.
  4. Heat oil in a paniyaram pan, pour in the batter, and cook until golden brown on both sides.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add grated coconut to the batter.
  • Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
