Easy Salmon Sushi Bake

A delicious and easy way to enjoy sushi at home, this salmon sushi bake combines all the flavors of traditional sushi in a simple casserole form.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pound cooked salmon, flaked
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 sheet nori, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  3. In a rice cooker or pot, combine the sushi rice and water, then cook according to the rice cooker instructions or bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once rice is cooked, fold this mixture into the rice gently.
  5. Spread the seasoned rice evenly in a baking dish.
  6. In a bowl, combine the flaked salmon, mayonnaise, and soy sauce. Mix well and evenly spread it over the rice layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven, then top with nori strips, green onions, and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to add additional toppings such as avocado or cucumber for extra flavor.
