  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add to the wet ingredients.
  5. Spread the cookie dough into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Once baked, let cool slightly and then pour the heavy cream over the top.
  7. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the cream and use a torch to caramelize the sugar, if desired. Alternatively, place under a broiler for a few minutes to achieve a similar effect.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
